Springfield Cemetery is a non-sectarian cemetery located on Maple Street in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Springfield Cemetery has been dedicated to serving the families and funeral directors of Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut since 1841. Burial plots that were purchased in the early days of the Cemetery are still cared for, maintained, and available today. We also have an urn garden, scattering garden, and columbarium for urns to be placed in niches.
Our gothic Chapin Chapel is available comfortably seating 50 people for funeral services or memorial services during the week.
Our crematory was established in 1910, one of the first in New England. The crematory operates daily from 7:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and weekends and holidays by appointment. We have a state of the art facility with four cremation chambers. In February 2002 we added two modern machines to handle the time constraints we sometimes face. The crematory is located adjacent to the chapel. A family that wishes to accompany the body to the crematory and witness the body placed in the cremation chamber can make an appointment to do so. A tour of our cremation facilities can be arranged by calling James Mooney, our general manager.
