Located in a park like setting with graceful slopes, rolling lawns, winding paths among ancient trees and plantings, The Springfield Cemetery serves a wide area of western Massachusetts and Connecticut and is considered to be one of the most beautiful cemeteries in New England. It was dedicated and consecrated on September 5, 1841 and contains grave sites and monuments of prominent citizens. Stones and tablets dating back to 1664 were moved from Springfield's Old First Church and are now preserved throughout the Cemetery.
